2009 Adobe Ward YMYW Snow Trip

Today we had a great time playing in the snow at my parents cabin with the YM and YW. My family went up on Friday so we could get the cabin warm and ready for the group to show up! They showed up at 9:30 am and played hard! It was cold and wet! It has been raining for a couple of days and not snowing! So the snow was pretty wet. It was fun for us desert dwellers though!

The kids were great and really pitched in to help clean up! They seemed to have lots of fun! We served hamburgers and hotdogs for lunch! And LOTS of hot chocolate! They all left by 1:30pm and we finished the clean up and winterizing of the cabin and came home ourselves! We would have liked to stay, but both Vaughan and I have lots of meetings tomorrow! It was a wonderful time and I hope the youth have it stored as a great memory!

Out of the Mouth of Babes

If your children are young you probably experience daily unique and funny comments from them. As they get older, like mine it happens less often. Not that they aren't still pretty funny, their comments sometimes sound more like sarcasm or criticism. And then something happens that makes you realize they are maturing and becoming more and more your contemporary and not so much "a little kid". My children will always be my babies though!

Lately, I've been struggling with some things going on in my life to the degree that I've been an emotional mess. Although I've tried to hide my emotions from my children some of them have noticed. (It's probably hard to miss the red swollen eyes!) (Before you let your minds wander to much just know my health is fine and my marriage couldn't be better! It's really just a little thing I'm making big!) Heidi walked in on a "moment" the other day and in my frustration I went ahead and confided in her. Heidi is a private child and doesn't really let you inside her head too often. She hides her feelings and isn't one to pay me too much attention. At least not publicly. Since our talk she has been smiling big smiles at me, watching me closely and giving me more attention than normal! I've appreciated her concern and love.

Tuesday I went in the office to work on the computer and there was this paper sitting there with the words to a song. I had seen Heidi working on something and so putting two and two together and feeling that she had intentionally left this for me I took a moment and read what she had left. I know she meant it as a comfort for me. And she succeeded. She also succeeded in reminding me how wonderful daughters are. She reminded me how truly blessed I am to have her and others in my life. I hope she knows that I DO know my Heavenly Father loves me and that prayer is what holds me together most day!

I confronted her the next day and gave her a big hug and told her how much I appreciated her sweet thoughts and concern for me. She giggled alot, a little embarrassed at what she had done, but told me they had sang this song in seminary that day and their teacher has shared the "alternate" part with them. She loved it and thought I would too. She was right. And it was just what I needed.

Because I know we all go through "sad" times I thought I'd share the words to the song with you. Who knows maybe it will be just what you need too! (she had it highlighted just like this for me.)

I Need Thee Every Hour
Hymn #98
I need thee ev'ry hour, Most gracious Lord.
No tender voice like thing can peace afford.
I need thee, oh, I need thee;
Ev'ry hour I need thee!
Oh, bless me now, my Savior; I come to thee!

I need thee ev'ry hour, stay thou nearby.
Temptations lose their pow'r when thou art nigh.
I need thee, oh, I need thee;
Ev'ry hour I need thee!
Oh, bless me now, my Savior; I come to thee!

I need thee ev'ry hour, in joy or pain.
Come quickly and abide, or life is vain.
I need thee, oh, I need thee;
Ev'ry hour I need thee!
Oh, bless me now, my Savior; I come to thee!

I need thee ev'ry hour, Most holy one.
Oh, make me thine indeed, Thou blessed Son!
I need thee, oh, I need thee;
Ev'ry hour I need thee!
Oh, bless me now, my Savior; I come to thee!

(Now sing the words to hymn #120 but sing the same tune) This is our Savior's reply!

Lean on my ample arm, O thou depressed!
And I will bid the storm cease in thy breast.
whate'er thy lot may be
on life's complaining sea,
If thou wilt come to me,
Thou shalt have rest.

Lift up thy tearful eyes, sad heart, to me;
I am the sacrifice offered for thee.
In me thy pain shall cease,
In me is thy release,
In me thou shalt have peace
Eternally.

Sweet Cindi!

Happy Birthday to my sweet sister Cindi! Today is the BIG day! I just want her to know how much I love her! I know right now she feels like her life stinks to some extent... But really she's just taking one of those side roads! Everything will be on track soon, or at least seem like it!

My sister is amazing. Somehow she has this amazing energy! She can multi task like no other! She is the most organized, clean and routine gal I know! She gets more done in a day than I have ever dreamed of! She puts her husband and kids first and they are treated like royalty!

Someday, if I ever grow up, I hope to be able to have half the clean house and energy she has!

Thanks for being my sis! For listening to me complain and putting up with my annoying traits!

I LOVE YOU!

$$ I WON!! $$

I work for "Coupon Sense". I teach people how to use coupons - using a subscription service called Coupon Sense. Along with this I am contracted with the Arizona Republic to sell the newspaper. They offer CS subscribers a discounted rate.

Well, the day after Christmas they held a contest for CS Instructors here in AZ. We had to sell a minimum of 3 subscriptions to CS AND the newspaper by noon on Saturday. We would then get our name in a drawing for each subscription we sold. So I decided to see what I could do! I ended up getting 7 subscriptions.

On Friday morning I found out I WON! YIPPEE! I won $100! I'm pretty excited! I have been putting more time into my job lately - trying to make my job more lucrative! I haven't had any luck getting kids to babysit yet... (working on that too!) So I decided I need to "do better with what I have" and put more time into my *part time* job with Coupon Sense. It is paying off and I have several workshops scheduled and hope to increase my subscriber base! I actually really enjoy this job! It is so rewarding helping people save money and improve their lives! So for now this is what I will put my time into. I know it will help increase our income and help us financially - all the while helping others! What could be better than that? :)

(Remember when the marriage license got lost?) But it all happened just like it was suppose to! I hope Hillary and James have a beautiful day together! Just like the last 3 years have been! Here's to many more happy anniversaries! We love you guys!

Lion King

For Christmas I gave the family tickets to see "Lion King" at Gammage. It was so fun to surprise everyone, including Vaughan! I have kept it a secret since August! We went on Friday, Jan 2nd! It was opening night!

It was absolutely amazing! I have never seen anything like it! I knew the costuming was suppose to be fantastic, but having never seen it I had no idea just how amazed I would be! We had awesome seats! We were sitting on an isle where the animals and other cast members entered the theater! Imagine a full sized elephant walking by where you were sitting! It was mesmerizing!

It was fun to see my kids faces and their reactions to the show. After it was over they couldn't stop talking about it! All the way home we talked about what we liked and how much fun it was! What a great memory! It was the perfect gift! And I didn't have to find room in a closet for it!

Happy New Year!

Welcome 2009! I'm ready for a new year! Ready to do new things, improve old things :) and continue doing the things I'm ok with!

We had fun New Year's Eve celebrating with family! We played games and ate way too much!

This year I want to do better at planning... serve more - complain less. I want to be a better wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend! I will increase my faith and improve my prayers.

I look forward to a new year - a clean slate! Ready to learn and grow!
